WHAT:
2007 NBA Draft

DETAILS:
St.Vincent Sports Performance Center’s NBA Readiness roster earned top spots in the 2007 NBA draft.  The sports performance roster was led by the number one overall pick Greg Oden, who was chosen by the Portland Trailblazers.  The 7-foot center is the first player from Indiana selected number one in the NBA draft since Glenn Robinson in 1994.

Other St.Vincent Sports Performance Center athletes drafted include Ohio State standouts Mike Conley Jr. at the No. 4 overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies, Daequan Cook at No. 21 by the Philadelphia 76ers. Former Purdue University player Carl Landry was selected at No. 31, the first pick in the second round, by the Seattle Supersonics.

The Sports Performance Center teams with Champions Academy, a basketball-training academy, to prepare top collegiate prospects for pre-draft camps and the NBA draft.  St.Vincent Sports Performance and Champions Academy provide comprehensive strength and conditioning training, fundamental skill and character development for each respective professional basketball prospect.  Athletes are coached by Sports Performance Center strength and conditioning professionals and by Champions Academy staff.

“We are excited for these great young men, and proud to have prepared them for 2007 NBA Draft,” said Ralph Reiff, director of the St.Vincent Sports Performance Center.  “Our program provided nutrition consultation, sports psychology, and the strength and conditioning for these athletes, but their hard work earned them top spots in this year’s draft.”

St.Vincent Sports Performance Center is a world destination for athlete development in all sports.  More than 50 NFL players; IndyCar Series drivers Dan Wheldon, Tony Kanaan and Marco Andretti; members of the U.S. National Gymnastics team; and Tamika Catchings, the WNBA’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006, are just a few of the high caliber athletes trained by the staff at St.Vincent Sports Performance Center.
