Justin Cecil MS, CSCS, USAW
Justin Cecil joined the St. Vincent Sports Performance (SVSP) staff in 2008, as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Lawrence Central High School. Justin quickly became an integral part of the LC Athletics program, coordinating the renovation of the LC weight room and athletic strength & conditioning programs.
Prior to joining the SVSP staff, Justin was the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Murray State University. He played a big part in the renovation of the weight room in Roy Stewart Stadium and building the strength & conditioning program from the ground up.
Before his time at Murray, Cecil was the Associate Director of Performance and Senior Fellow at Perfect Competition, an athletic development center for professional athletes in south Florida. At Perfect Competition, Cecil worked with NFL football players Chad Pennington, Ruben Droughns, Thomas Jones and Antwan Randle-El, and Major League Baseball players Pat Burrell, Raul Ibanez and Adam Dunn.
Cecil also served as the Assistant Speed, Strength and Conditioning Coach at Ball State University from 2002 to 2005. He was directly responsible for program development and integration in the areas of strength training, power development, speed mechanics, core training, recovery, flexibility, and conditioning for BSU’s baseball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, field hockey and men’s and women’s golf teams. In addition he worked with the track and field throwers and sprinters, and assisted with football and men’s basketball.
The Greenfield, Ind., native earned his bachelor’s of science degree in exercise science from Ball State University in 2000 and did his master’s coursework in clinical/sport biomechanics also at Ball State University.
Cecil is the founder, former head coach (1996-2001), and member of the formerly Top 10 nationally ranked Ball State University Power lifting Team. He was a two time collegiate All-American and Pan-Am Games Champion and coached 29 collegiate All-Americans and 13 national champions.
Cecil remains a competitive strength athlete and studies Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Justin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, and a Certified Level I USA Weightlifting Coach through USAW.
Cecil has also been selected as a keynote speaker for the elite Nike Coach of the Year 2008 Football Tour, speaking in cities all over the country. His talks focused on football athletic development.
