Tim Drudge

Tim Drudge, MS, LAT, ATC, CSCS

Having set new standards in the open wheel racing industry by becoming the first full-time, Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in the IndyCar Series®, Tim coordinates our Motorsports programs.  Tim works directly with Panther Racing (IRL) and Forsythe Championship Racing (ChampCar) pit crews to improve their performance in the pits.  Improving flexibility, upper body strength and hand/eye coordination are just a few areas of concentration on with these crews.  Film review and critique is also an important part of Tim’s responsibilities as it relates to the athletes that go “over the wall”.

In addition to coaching the pit crews, the athletes that pilot the cars are also a focus of Tim’s expertise.  National publications like USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, SportsCar magazine and IndyCar magazine have chronicled the training that Tim has utilized with his drivers not only in the sports highest levels, but also those drivers in go karts, quarter midgets, sprint cars, late models, and others.  Through Tim’s coaching, drivers have not only improved their muscular endurance and cardiovascular endurance on track, they have also decreased their body fat percentage and mental clarity while driving.

Although much of Tim’s time is devoted to racing, his knowledge base extends well beyond the boundaries of motorsports.  Tim has been improving the athleticism of all levels of athletes for well over fifteen years.  From speed development, to functional strength training, to cardiovascular and core stabilization training, Tim focuses on the athlete’s weaknesses to produce a well rounded, complete athlete.

Tim received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1991 and his master's degree from Illinois State University in 1993. Tim has served as an assistant athletic trainer at the collegiate level at two Division I institutions.  Prior to his involvement in racing, Tim was the Head Athletic Trainer at Carmel High School from 1997 to 2003.
