Adam Shunk, PhD, HSPP, NCSP

Dr. Adam Shunk is a licensed sports psychologist and neuropsychologist at St. Vincent Sports Performance Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Shunk specializes in both the areas of neuropsychological assessment and sport and performance psychology. In his role as a neuropsychologist, Dr. Shunk provides conducts evaluations and directs interventions to assist competitive athletes in both the academic setting and the application of mental skills in the sports arena. Adam is also involved in the assessment and management of sports-related concussion, diagnosis of learning disabilities, ADHD and other neurological conditions.

In his role as a sports psychologist, Dr. Shunk is trained in the applied practice of sport and performance psychology where he works with “elite” performance issues in areas such as sports/athletics, performing arts, high performance occupations (e.g. police/fire), business performance, and positive psychology applications. Adam also provides individual counseling and consultation services; he is a licensed psychologist in the state of Indiana and is HSPP-endorsed. Dr. Shunk is currently the consulting Sports Psychologist for Purdue University Athletic Department.

Dr. Shunk attained his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before earning his Masters and Doctorate degrees at Ball State University. Adam completed an internship and 2-year post-doctorate training at St Vincent Hospital and Indiana Neuroscience Institute where he split his time training in neuropsychology and sport and performance psychology.

Adam is also a competitive high jumper who has won both a NCAA and USA championship title. As a high jumper, he competed professionally for NIKE and represented team USA at several international competitions which included the IAAF World Championship, NACAC championships and the Pan-American Games. Adam is a native of Muncie, Indiana and currently lives in Fishers, Indiana with his wife Patricia.
